Foil Drive V2 Motor Puck

The Foil Drive v2 Motor Puck has a new re-designed shape for specific use with the v2 Motors and their Removable V2 Motor Cable.

When installing the V2 puck, the cable must first be plugged into the Motor.

After that the Puck is installed over the top of the cable with the cut-out slot aligning with the on the motor cable.

The v2 Motor Puck is compatible with v2 motors for Gen2 systems.

The v2 Puck utilises less installation hardware than the original v1 Pucks.

Provided hardware (4x M4 16mm Bolts) then lock the system in place.

This puck is only compatible with Gen2 motor systems.

The provided hardware (4x M4 16mm bolts) are longer than the bolts used for the v1 Puck (M3 x 12mm) .

Included with the V2 Motor Puck comes:

1x Injection Moulded Motor Puck
4x M4 16mm Bolts

Standard Motor vs High Power motor

Foil Drive MAX and Slim Systems use to come with a Standard Motor.

For 2025 we offer you the option to upgrade your standard motor to a High Power Motor.

This new HP motor offers 20-25% more runtime through its improved efficiency, only adding an extra 160g/5.6ounces to your kit.

You can pair it with your existing V2 Cable, Mast Adaptor and Puck for seamless integration.

The Foil Drive v2 Motor Puck has been designed for optimal use with the motor and cables.

When installing the puck, first plug the cable into the motor, then place the puck over the cable, aligning the cut-out slot with the motor cable.

Foil Drive Motor Cleaning and Maintenance

While the Foil Drive motor is super hardy and very robust, it remains susceptible to the harsh marine environment.

Just like any other marine device, this motor will require you regular care and maintenance if you want it to remain in top condition.

If you do some simple steps after every use, you can ensure your motor will last you a long time and maintain super reliable.

Regular Procedures include:

Fresh Water Rinse

It is very important to remove and rinse the Rotor (Motor Can) from the Stator after every use.
If you don’t have access to a hose or running water, a drink bottle with fresh water is enough.
If you are riding in fresh water, it is still important to rinse your system as minerals and debris can also cause issues long term.

Dry and Lubricate

Try to always dry your Foil Drive parts and store your system with the Rotor removed from the Stator.
Salt water is extremely aggressive, and even a small residue can begin the oxidisation process and if not spotted early, can cause your motor to seize.
Once dry, we recommend lightly lubricating the rotor and stator with Lanolin Rust Preventor or similar.

Throttle Controller

Don’t forget to also rinse your Throttle Controller in fresh water.
With the controller off, submerge it and pull each trigger in to thoroughly rinse.
After that, try to ensure that you shake as much water from the internals as possible to help drying.

NOTE:
When placing the motor can/rotor back on the stator, always use two hands to guide it back on, very slowly.
Once the magnets pull, you have to ensure that the rotor doesn’t slam against the stator, or you might end up damaging your bearings.

The core components of a Foil Drive Kit include:

Electric Motor: A small, powerful electric motor mounted at the rear of the hydrofoil mast. This motor is protected by a durable, waterproof casing, making it corrosion-resistant and designed to withstand the harsh marine environment. Propeller: A specially designed propeller, attached to the motor, which provides the thrust needed to assist the rider when needed. Battery Pack: A compact battery that powers the motor. It’s usually stored in a waterproof casing and mounted on the board or in a specially designed backpack that the rider wears. Remote Control: A handheld or wrist-mounted remote control that allows the rider to control the power output of the motor. The remote communicates wirelessly with the motor and battery to provide precise speed control. Connection Cables: Durable, waterproof cables that connect the battery pack to the motor and other electronic components. The Foil Drive Assist PLUS is the entry level Foil Drive unit for everyone. The Assist PLUS allows riders the creativity to fit an electric paddle assistance system to their existing gear. It's lightweight design perfect for foil surfing, downwind, wing foil, learning and flatwater. Altough it is small in size, it offers plenty of thrust to get you on foil easier and sooner. Take in consideration that the smaller batteries do reduce the run time. The Assist Slim is the perfect kit for advanced, high performance riders or wingers/downwinders that do not require lots of battery capacity. This kit includes everything you need to turn your existing foil and board into an electric assisted foiling machine! In the Foil Drive Slim Kit you can choose 2 different batteries:

The Slim Endurance Battery and the Slim Performance Battery.
The Slim Endurance Battery is the larger of the SLIM kit batteries with 241Wh capacity.
The Endurance Battery is great for those who are wanting to lengthen their runtime with the Assist Slim. You must take in consideration that, due to the lower voltage, this battery does not provide the same level of thrust and overall ride experience as the Slim Performance Battery. The Slim Endurance Battery is the only Gen2 battery that runs on a 28V system. This means you must use the 28V Standard Charger 4A with this battery. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHARGE THIS BATTERY WITH A 40V Charger! YOU MUST READ the Critical Battery Configuration information about the usage of the 28v Slim Endurance battery.
