Foil Drive F-ONE Integrated Aluminium Mast

The Foil Drive F-ONE Integrated Aluminium Mast provides a high-performance, versatile 80 cm mast  with the benefits of a Foil Drive High Power Motor.

F One, one of the best foiling brands in the maket, delivers it’s own Foil Drive integrated Mast.

TheFoil Drive boosted the F-ONE Integrated Mast now including the High Power Motor!

With the motor fully internal, this setup simplifies installation, reduces drag, and delivers more low-end torque.

All these characteristics will allow foilers longer sessions on the water.

This sleek, pre-installed integration ensures uninterrupted foiling, whether powered or unpowered.

It also keeps the lines of your mast more clean and professional.

Foil Drive F-ONE Integrated Aluminium Mast Features:

Extruded aluminium precision from 6063

Stainless steel helicoil inserts at top and bottom of the mast for strong, modular connections.

Lightweight but stiff profile allowing for maximum glide and performance

Fully modular design compatible with Foil Drive Universal Motor Pods and Mast Adaptors

The Foil Drive x F-One Integrated Masts have a Foil Drive Motor pre-Installed to the mast at one of four positions.

The motor measurement in reference to the distance form the mast plate/board.

Efoil: For the complete E-Foil experience with the motor positioned near the fuselage. Perfect for learning, or converting your F-ONE gear into an efoil!

15cm Assist: For competent foilers only needing short bursts of power to get on foil. Once up, the pod is in the highest position near the board, reducing the likelihood of the pod re-entering the water unnecessarily.

20cm Assist: Is perfect for those needing a little more motor to get going. Either more intermediate, or heavier riders who need that extra time of electric assistance.

The slightly lower position is also beneficial for wind sports where the water is choppier or great for surface motoring .Paired with the three blade propeller upgrade, your motor can be used as a hybrid for low level efoiling for traversing, motoring upwind or through chop/bumps.

25cm Assist: Is ideal for those transitioning from efoil to assisted foiling. It allows you to rely more on the motor to compensate the building technique.

Keep in mind the motor is fixed into a position and cannot be removed or changed.

If you wish to change you will need a diferent Integrated Mast.

F One integrated Masts are available with motors at 15cm, 20 cm, 25 cm and Efoil mode.

Integrated Mast DOES NOT INCLUDE a F-ONE Titan Foot adaptor, sold separately.

What are the Advantages of Integrated Masts?

An integrated mast for a Foil Drive offers several advantages, but also some limitations.

Foilers will get a better performance, usability, and maintenance over a traditional setup where the motor unit is mounted externally on the mast.

Key advantages of an integrated Mast are:

Improved Hydrodynamics

Reduced drag – Integrated masts have smoother lines and fewer friction points, so the water will flow smoothly around it.
Better efficiency – More flow, less turbulence  means more thrust per watt and improved top-end speed.
Smoother ride – The smoother flow will reduce cavitation noise and any vibrations.

Better Balance and Weight Distribution

Lower center of gravity – Integrating the drive into the mast moves weight lower and more centrally, improving board balance and handling.
Improved pitch control: With less weight hanging off the back, foil trim and responsiveness improve. This will be especially noticeable when pumping or carving.

Cleaner Setup and Simpler Mounting

No bulky clamp mounts or brackets -Since the drive is built into the mast, it will reduce the number of parts to install or align.
Faster setup and teardown – Integrated masts are ideal for riders who travel frequently or wish quick foil assembly on the beach.
Cable management- No external cables. Since the wiring for the motor is internal, all connections will be sleek and protected.

Increased Reliability and Durability

Less exposed hardware – No external clamps or mounts that can loosen, corrode, or catch debris.
Better waterproofing and protection – Integrated designs typically have better sealing and less chance of cable damage or water ingress.
Fewer failure points – A single purpose-built unit is usually more robust than a modular assembly.

Enhanced Performance Consistency

Fixed motor alignment – The motor is perfectly aligned with the mast and fuselage, ensuring consistent thrust and reducing vibrations.
Optimized motor position –  Integration allows the manufacturer to originally place the motor at the ideal height and distance for hydrodynamic balance.

Aesthetics and Practicality

Sleeker appearance – Foilers appreciate the cleaner, more professional look of an integrated system.
Easier transport –  With fewer parts, it’s easies to pack and better for travelling foilers.

Possible Trade-offs

While integrated masts have many upsides, it’s worth noting:

Higher cost – They are ussually more expensive due to precision engineering.
Less flexibility – you’re locked into one mast-motor combination, no possibilities to change.
More complex servicing and maintenance –  If the motor or wiring needs repair you will need professional help.

Comparison between integrated vs retrofit Foil Drive Mast setups

Overall

Integrated masts offer cleaner hydrodynamics, simpler beach setup, fewer exposed cables/parts.

This will lead to better efficiency, handling, and looks but at a higher cost and less modularity.

Retrofit (universal) motor provide lower entry cost, works with your existing mast/foil, and is very flexible for swapping systems.

The downside is that it will but add more drag and visible cabling and will require a more complex installation.

Hydrodynamics & performance

Integrated mast – cable and motor sit inside or flush with the mast so the waterline is cleaner . This will lead to less drag and less disturbed flow into the prop, which improves prop efficiency and gives a slightly quieter, more consistent thrust. This is the main technical advantage manufacturers and testers

Retrofit motor – sits externally on the mast (or uses a pod/flow mount), so there’s more friction surface, exposed cable routing, and a small performance penalty. Keep in mind in real-world sessions the difference is modest unless you chase top efficiency.

Fit, compatibility & installation

Integrated mast – sold as a dedicated mast that already includes the motor/pod. That means plug-and-ride for boards/foils that accept that mast style, but you’re locked to that mast/brand combination. Good if you’re buying a new system or want a long-term streamlined setup.

Retrofit motor – designed to mount to  most existing masts — huge advantage if you already own a foil or want to move the motor between multiple setups. It’s the most cost-effective way to electrify an existing foil quiver.

Setup, transport & everyday use

Integrated Mast will be tidier, fewer loose parts and no external cable to secure. Foilers will get a faster beach setup and neater transport (and better looks). Many riders report it “just feels simpler” and less fiddly.

Retrofit implies more parts to mount, route and secure each session. Better if you need to remove the motor frequently or share it across different masts/boards.

Maintenance & serviceability

Integrated mast has fewer exposed fasteners and cables -> fewer wear points and less chance of snagging or corrosion. On the flip side, if an internal electrical or motor issue occurs, repairs may be more complex or require returning the mast to a specialist.

Retrofit it’s easier to service or replace just the motor/pod without touching the mast or foil. Spare parts and field swaps are generally simpler.

Cost

Integrated masts typically are more expensive (mast + motor bundled) — you will have to pay for the engineering, integrated wiring, and lower-drag benefits. Many integrated masts are premium carbon/aluminium offerings with premium pricing.

Retrofit  lower up-front cost, especiallyt if you already own a mast/foil. You can often buy just the motor pod and battery and retro-fit to existing gear.

Real-world notes & user feedback

Forums and and review feedback: riders who upgraded to integrated masts report smoother get-ups, fewer issues with cable drag/wake, and a nicer “ride feel.”

But many say the retrofit Foil Drive approach already works very well for most users and gives the best value if you have multiple foils.

Short decision guide (which mast should you pick?)

Choose an Integrated mast if you:

Want the best hydrodynamic efficiency, cleaner looks, and quickest setup.
Are buying a dedicated foil system and don’t plan to mix the motor between lots of different masts.
Don’t mind paying a premium for convenience and performance.

Choose Retrofit (universal) motor if you:

Already own a foil/mast and want to electrify it affordably.
Want maximum flexibility (move the motor between boards/masts).
Prefer easier servicing or being able to buy the motor separately.

Foil Drive

Foil Drive represents a significant advancement in the world of foiling, providing riders with an eco-friendly, efficient, and powerful way to extend their time on the water, explore new terrains, and improve their skills.

Whether you're a seasoned professional or a newcomer to the sport, the versatility and ease of use of these system make them a valuable addition to any foiling adventure. This is a pioneering technology designed to assist and enhance the performance of hydrofoils. It's used in watersports like Surf foil, SUP (Stand-Up Paddle) foiling, and Downwind foil. Since foiling has gained immense popularity due to its smooth and efficient glide across water with reduced drag, we developed an electric boost to foil riders. Our goal is to enable all types of foilers greater versatility and range. Our systems are compact and sleek, integrating seamlessly with most hydrofoil setups.

The purpose of Foil Drive is to provide motorized assistance to riders, making it easier to:

Catch Waves: For surfers and SUP foilers, the drive helps generate enough speed to catch waves with minimal paddling effort, even in low swell conditions. It gives experienced riders a burst of speed to rise onto the foil quicker, reducing the need for manual paddling or pumping. Extend Sessions: It significantly reduces fatigue by allowing riders to continue riding without exhausting their legs or upper body muscles. Uphill Foiling: In wing foiling or downwind foiling, the motorized drive allows riders to cover longer distances against the wind or currents. Training and Learning Aid: For beginners, the drive offers a stable and controlled environment to practice foiling techniques without requiring perfect wave or wind conditions.

The core components of a Foil Drive Kit include:

Electric Motor: A small, powerful electric motor mounted at the rear of the hydrofoil mast. This motor is protected by a durable, waterproof casing, making it corrosion-resistant and designed to withstand the harsh marine environment. Propeller: A specially designed propeller, attached to the motor, which provides the thrust needed to assist the rider when needed. Battery Pack: A compact battery that powers the motor. It’s usually stored in a waterproof casing and mounted on the board or in a specially designed backpack that the rider wears. Remote Control: A handheld or wrist-mounted remote control that allows the rider to control the power output of the motor. The remote communicates wirelessly with the motor and battery to provide precise speed control. Connection Cables: Durable, waterproof cables that connect the battery pack to the motor and other electronic components. Visually, the system is low-profile, keeping the board's aesthetics intact while ensuring that the weight distribution doesn’t affect the balance of the board.
